Puzzle 41 - Cutting Corners

A fun way to solve this as you follow the directions in the car chase in the Final episode of Alcatraz Season 1

Puzzle 42 - One-Eyed Royal

Simply follow the line of the eyes of the three cards and use the corresponding letters.

The clue of course being, "it's all in the eyes"

Puzzle 43 - Picture This

Arrange the pictures so the blocks line up.

Then take each column of blocks and rearrange into the column number order and read the answer.

Puzzle 44 - Want ads

The puzzle clue is "Substitute", you need to swap some letters around -

O = D
D = O
U = E
E = U
P = A
A = P
Y = T
T = Y

Puzzle 45 - Solitary Man

A very clever way to finish the set of puzzles and it had us guessing all day.

The answer was obtained by waiting for the times scratched into the wall, and as Alcatraz is in San Francisco it was Pacific time of course.

The shadow of the window bars lined up with a letter at the specified time to spell the very appropriate final word.

The image used above to circle the letters was originally posted in the comments by LeeL.

I'm in the UK and didn't stay up to see where the cross landed at those times, but it is the correct answer.

The second image is a composite of all the actual times created from pictures sent in by ObFuSc8

Use the letter next to each cell to spell the answer.

Puzzle 37 - It's Elemental

Simply use element abbreviations to spell out the answer.

Puzzle 38 - Dual Meaning

Taking your clue from the title of this puzzle, use each occurence of the double letters from the note to form the answer.

Puzzle 39 - Stacked Deck

The puzzle description gives you instructions so arranging the cards in the right order should be easy :-)

Puzzle 40 - Cell Hopping

The description gives you instructions and as Just Thinking wrote in the comments :-

The black empty cells don't have inmates, but are counted in the spacing.

You can work logic chains starting with the Doc in the list in both directions.

It is helpful to see who is on both ends of the cell rows.

Puzzle 32 - The Line-up

Rearrange the pencils to see the visual representation of the answer.

Puzzle 33 - High Roller

Using the patterns of the numbers on the dice, follow that pattern on the letter grid, using both dice in turn.

Puzzle 34 - Pattern Maker

The description of this puzzle says it all.

I'm not sure the picture to the right is the exact solution, but it is the one that made sense and highlighted all the letters in the one word answer.

Puzzle 35 - Fully Loaded

Once you see the pattern here the rest is quite simple.

Each card is marked with the suit and card number (in binary)

The answer you need to type in is like you see in the handwritten note, but with spaces not commas.

Puzzle 26 - Note To Self

An excercise in lateral thinking to translate the seemingly random characters.

Puzzle 27 - Boxed In

The clue here is "running in circles", follow the text in a circle to read the message.

The difficult bit is knowing where to start.

Puzzle 28 - Dearly Departed

From the two grids find the letters that match in both.

Then read the required answer by reading the first letter in each column and then the second letter in each column.

Puzzle 29 - Secret Decoder

As the description says, we have to decode the password. Each time this puzzle loads there is a different word to decode.

Start by entering seven letters and seeing if any of them are green (correct letter in the correct place) or yellow (correct letter in the wrong place).

By the time you get to the final try you should have been able to eliminate letters and have most if not all of them, if they are not in the right place then anagram them until you get an answer.

Once you have entered the correct password you get two emails and the answer for the puzzle is the two words in uppercase.

The content of the emails is interesting if you are following the story of this section of the Legends of Alcatraz.

Puzzle 30 - Poison Pen

The hard puzzle isn't that hard again, once you know what you are looking for.

There are two clues "This letter spelled the beginning of the end for Jasper" and "To make sense of my ramblings take note of where my words end and begin to see that I am actually quite direct."

Look for words that have the same end and start letter and take that letter as each part of the answer.

For this puzzle simply line up the markings with the blueprint and take the circled letter.

The image HERE shows all the markings moved to the correct place on the blueprint.

Puzzle 22 - Days Off

The calendar has a handy hint on the left side with a series of letters and a number.

It is simply a case of adding the rest of the alphabet and numbers to fit and then reading the letter corresponding to the calendar entries.

Puzzle 23 - Dead Letter

There are two clues "Capital punishment" and in the letter "I'm on the line for my capital crime"

Join up the numbers with lines and note the letter when the line crosses a capital letter.

Puzzle 24 - Safe Keeping

The clue is "heads or tails"

You look at the letters and take some letters from the end of one word and some from the start of the next.

It is possible we may need to know this series of numbers for something later on.

Puzzle 25 - Pick The Bones

This week the hard puzzle was definitely harder than it has been.

The first thing to do is take all the dominos and place them on the scratched numbers.

There is more than one way to do this, but only one way that makes sense for the solution.

Next you "Pick the bones" by selecting dominos that have letters "on the up and up"

i.e. only letters that are the correct way up.

Use the compass directions North, South etc. and Left and Right turns.

This example answer is the best fit I could come up with so if you have a better / different solution let us know.

You can also potentially work out the answer from the clue given.

Also the answer must be entered in upper case letters.

For each score number, use the letter indicated by the score.

This includes a whole word as part of the answer.

Legends of Alcatraz - Puzzle 1 to 5 Solutions 12

Below you can find the solution to each game, just click on the title to reveal the solution.

Click on the images to see larger versions

Game 1 - A Better View

Game 1 is simply a case of working out which items marked on the map relate to the clues.

Then fill in the crossword grid and read off the line that passes through all the clues.
Game 2 - The Chase

This game involves manipulating the image of the tyre tracks so that the solution is visible.

You don't need to use an electronic image editor, SG_Tess printed a copy off and oriented it so that the words could be read.
Game 3 - Across The Bay

For this game if you watch the lighthouse you will see it flash.

If you write down the flash pattern as dots and dashes for short and long flashes you get a morse code pattern.
Game 4 - Mind Game

The clue for this is at the top of the page "Checkmate in one".

Solve the chess puzzle by determining what is the checkmate move.

Take the starting position row and column and the end position row and column. This gives you two letters and two numbers from each puzzle.

The number then corresponds to the position of the letter in the solution.
Game 5 - Rise Up

In this puzzle there are two letters in black, these are correct letters in the solution.

The puzzle says "are you giving up or going down?" This is the second part of the clue.

If a letter appears one step below the black letters then subtract 1 from it's position in the alphabet, if it is one step up then add one to it's position.
