The new puzzles from The Legends Of Alcatraz website have been posted.
Lets get cracking on the solutions, if you need help ask in the comments and we can try and give hints to each other.
Spelled Out (Easy)
It's Elemental (Easy)
Dual Meaning (Medium)
Stacked Desck (Medium)
Cell Hopping (Hard)
I've got a couple of them so far, the cards one is a logic puzzle so should be fun to complete.
ReplyDeletegot them all but 40.. (i know the answer to 40 but i don't know how it was done)
ReplyDeleteThe clue offers locations for 3 of the cells but it isn't obvious when to move horizontally or vertically.
DeleteI could not remember the element symbols and had to refer to the periodic table for 37.
ReplyDeleteCell hopping was fun. Can't see 36 yet, and need to work on card stacking-but have to do actual work awhile. Other 2 done.
ReplyDeleteI've got all of them now, the final one does jump around a bit but I found it mostly logical.
ReplyDeleteThat card one was fun! I'm still stuck on 40 also. Was able to get them all last week before you posted the answers but this one might just get me :(
ReplyDeleteThe card one is like a poker sudoku...haven't got it quite yet but not ready to fold yet
ReplyDeletei know the answer, and i know how it was done, but 40 still makes no sense to me.. it's driving me nutz...lol
ReplyDeleteThings I found helpful on 40 were:
ReplyDeleteThe black empty cells don't have inmates, but are counted in the spacing.
You can work logic chains starting with the Doc in the list in both directions.
It is helpful to see who is on both ends of the cell rows.
Hi all!
ReplyDeleteI've been sick and haven't had a whole bunch of time, so I'm glad these puzzles have been straightforward.
#39 - Stacked Deck - was fun but took me a couple tries because I kept wanting the solution to use the 9's as the "four of a kind" the first go round. It's also a good thing the game kept track of the completed hands or I would have overlooked not having a simple "high card" hand.
#38 seemed like a replay of #30, though even more straightforward.
JT -- those are great clues for #40.
OK, back to fumbling around the Prometheus viral.
ReplyDeleteall but 39 done and its killing me. any good clues?
ReplyDeleteMy strategy was to try to complete the highest, most difficult hands first. I think there is only one way to make a royal flush and only one way to make a straight flush. Well, you could swap the two cards on the ends, but only one combo for the internal cards will work for each.
DeleteThe flush can only be made with the outside cards once the straight flush has been set. Then I worked on 4ok,full house and 3ok. Hope that helps without helping too much.
Some last hints for 40: the cell counts do not "roll-over" to the next level like text does. The only way to get to a different level is to be 1 or 2 cells away. Therefore while a count of 1 or 2 may move horizontal or vertical, any counts of 3 or higher must be horizontal moves.
ReplyDeleteWell, finally got 39. Hmm more clues- besides lots of shuffling...
ReplyDeleteAs OB says above- the four of a kind are not the 9s.
There are some hands that have to go around the outside- like the flush. They cannot fit in with the "fixed" cards.
The 4's don't go together.
just stuck on the high card one grrrr
ReplyDeleteThat kept happening when I used the 9's for "four of a kind" - don't.
DeleteIf you're not, go through each of your 10 rows/columns and look to see which hand you have 2 of, then see which card you can move to eliminate. For example, if you have 2 "pair" hands, see if you can move a card from one of the hands to eliminate the pair so that it can become your "high card" hand.
That's interesting. I solved it using the 9's as the 4 o'kind and had JJJ44 as the full house.
DeleteAre there 2 valid solutions to this one?
You might try seeing what hands are duplicates of a type. You must have 2of some kind.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the delay, but I've now created a NEW POST for the solutions to this weeks puzzles.
